Fmf factory fatty question

I cashed in my KTM contingency i got from racing the MERP series on a fmf factory fatty and titan 2.1 Ti silencer. This is my first time having a “factory” pipe on my bike. I’ve read to clean with a Brillo pad and put WD40 on it after every wash to keep it looking good. My question is, has anyone ever done a high temp powder coat or clear coat on one? What are your tips for keeping that factory pipe looking nice

The Brillo pad soap tends to pack around brackets and seams. I use Scotch-Brite sponges and pads with whatever soap I'm using on the rest of the bike. I always spray the chain with WD40 after cleaning and hit the pipe too. If any rust spots show after, it's easy to touch up with a Scotch-Brite and the WD40 that remains on the pipe.

It’s kind of zen for me to remove my pipe and get it on bench and have a WD/scotch brite party.

Slowing down some stuff in my life instead of “full optimization” makes my brain feel better.

I love wrenching on bikes.

I do think the clear coat works just getting an even coat all over the pipe is tough. Some spots wear through faster than others then it’s a problem rust spot blah blah.

Our routine on works pipes is after washing the bike we blow it off with air, then will spray parts of the bike down with WD-40 including the motor, shock, footpeg springs, pipe ect. I will then lightly scrub the pipe with scotch bright just enough not to scrub away the bluing, wipe the pipe down with a rag and blow the motor off again. Periodically you will still have to remove the bike to get the hard to hit areas. If you have never tried it WD-40 on a motor after each wash you need too! It’s amazing how clean the motor will stay.

How much did you get from contingency? What class and positions were you getting? Can you give us a quick breakdown?

I only did the Honda hills and muskingum rounds. Raced sportsman and warrior classes. At muskingum i went 1st in both classes, and at Honda hills i got 2nd in sportsman and 1st in warrior. I was paid $150 for 1st and $100 for 2nd place.
