    Bike restoration tips

The KX is looking good. I finally finished up my '04 RM250 this week. I liked the restyle kit (a little fabricating) and I am usually happy with DecalWorks. Suspension, bearings, top end, brake pads, clutch, exhaust - most everything fresh with the exception being the bottom end...

    AMA VINTAGE DAYS

If Evo doesn't, you need that 84 YZ Ohlins shock or maybe the entire bike;). Did you race at Honda Hill this weekend? My plans have continued to fizzle - Honda Hills was on my list - so much family stuff. My mother-in-law's house was hit by a big tree in Houston, Texas during Beryl. It is...

    AMA VINTAGE DAYS

I would do $1,800 for the YZ without the Ohilns. I bought the Ohlins from Steve Marpes and think I paid about $750 for it. Have some new parts and plastics for the YZ. Put new tires on the rims a couple of years ago. Have a new pro-circuit pipe, and new plastic. It is sitting on a bike...

    AMA VINTAGE DAYS

That KX is one of my favorite bikes. You did such a good job on it. I have a cheapo '75 MR175, a nice tank and some parts for MR175 I have bunch of Full Floater parts from various RM250s 1981-1984. I am going to sell a pretty nice 84 yz250 - Parma Dave rebuilt it. I have an Ohlins...

    AMA VINTAGE DAYS

Is anyone planning to have a vendor spot at Vintage days? I have a couple bikes and a few parts I need to sell. Would be happy to help cover a proportional part of the spot fee.

    Stark Varg

I am holding out for a green hydrogen dirt bike, or better a matter-antimatter warp drive. Ideally I want a garbage using Mr. Fusion. I saw a documentary back in the 80s about banana peal consuming Mr. Fusion and as soon as I hit 88 MPH I can time warp to a podium finish. Imagine the...

    83 CR250 - I am not doing it but......

That is a lot to manage - glad your mom is out of the hospital and you are mending. Just when you set your own priorities,,,, life has a way of defining what is a true priority and re-focusing everything. And then what amazes me is that I can't find time to get "my" projects, but when big...

    Campers

I have a couple of friends that have done the enclosed cargo trailer conversion route Not luxurious but functional. I kinda like my work and play - basically a cargo trailer with some furnishings inside. With its metal roof, upgraded axels, I have been lucky. I don’t stretch tires out...

    Campers

Agree with all the comments. I like my Work and Play. It is the length and weight you are considering. Pulls easily with a 1/2 ton fossil fuel truck. At the 20ft length the garage is the living space and I need to unload to have a place to sleep. Would be nice to have separated - for...

    '24 Loretta Lynns

I have raced Lincoln Trails a few times. It is one of my favorites. Might want to take the family and visit Casey, IL. It is right there and has tons of Americana. Largest rocking chair, largest mailbox, etc.

    Boot Resole

I had Pro-Boot do a pair of Gaerne boots for me. It has been a few years but don't remember it being too expensive and they have held up well. It is a company in Minnesota. Local guy wouldn't do them. https://www.pro-bootmx.com/

    Bike restoration tips

Nicely done - they do look good. My '04 RM250 build is moving along also. I turned to fellow PitRacer Schaffernocker and his Smooth Speed MX wheel service for rebuild, new rims, spokes, and tires. He did a super job and they look fantastic.

    2024 SX Thread

That stood out to me and his comment about fight to the death when who knows how badly Forkner might have been hurt. And throwing his bike away at the finish line. Don't know how many people might have been in its path. I just see him as entitlement and poor sportsmanship. Contrast to...

    Bike restoration tips

Oh that great feeling when your start the tear down and find: It is NOT held together with zip ties and bent over nails The radiators are not mangled There was at least an air filter on the bike Most of the hardware is original and other stuff is still there The subframe is straight And the...

    Bike restoration tips

Knox did a KX125 a few years ago. I suspect his posts are still available. He posted progress and tips from start to finish. He did everything on a budget - If I remember correctly even tried to anodize aluminum parts on his own. NQ1965 is always up to some creative and cost effective...
