    Old days vs Today

Somewhere in a box... I have tons of pics from Harborwoods taken in 1979 and 1980. Matt Manfredi used to fly on a '79 Can-Am. If I remember correctly, he did some nationals on that bike. I was 9 years old and watched my brothers race. The addiction was born.

Mexican food in Northern Florida = bad memories! I also remember winning a National Championship that weekend too! It was all due to the full factory support I had. Fly into the races... win... and then fly home. :D

    MX'ers in MTB'ing

Here's a quick vid of some NC action. 30 ft double into a pretty rocky landing and a quick turn.

    MX'ers in MTB'ing

No E-Motor on this beast, but I'm super excited to ride it. More suspension than I've ever had or probably need. Headed to North Carolina on Thursday to ride Kanuga bike park and then over to Brevard for a couple of days. I'm going to do a 6-race Enduro series this year to have some fun. I...

    MX'ers in MTB'ing

I find it so strange that Ohlins is really looked down upon in MTB'ing. I still have very positive vibs regarding that brand from MX, but I haven't met a single mountain biker who likes their suspension. I haven't tried their stuff because it's way too expensive to try given the wide spread...

    Pastrana Gymkhana

When he hits that jump at 150 mph, he actually taps the brakes in mid-air (watch the brake lights). I wonder if that was a panic or was he tapping just the rear brake to dip the front end. Amazing stuff.

I'm pretty sure they're trying to leverage off of the strong brand recognition of the Pink Pony. :D

    MX'ers in MTB'ing

The closest area that is open most of the winter is DuPont State Forest and Pisgah (Brevard), both in NC. It's an 8 hour drive to both. DuPont is more classic single track with some machine-built flowy stuff, but Pisgah is much harder riding. Pisgah (Brevard) is the only place I've ridden...

    MX'ers in MTB'ing

I don't know the answer to that question, but what I do know is that with a Moto background you'll want to flow as best you can on downhill runs, hitting turns as hard as you can, blitz some rock gardens, and yes, even jump a little. A 50 lb E-bike would feel like a 1979 CR250 to me. Yes, the...

    MX'ers in MTB'ing

Sharc - the other area to really consider is the weight of these bikes vs. the power of the motor, for example: Normal "All Mountain Trail Bike" will weigh around 27 - 30 lbs Normal E-Bike like the Husky one pictured will weigh 50 lbs plus Newer E-Bikes with toned down power can get as low as...

    MX'ers in MTB'ing

All Mountain - 150mm of suspension Enduro - 180mm of suspension Downhill - 200mm of suspension Then, within each category there are several choices for higher/lower end components. Shock, Fork and derailleur quality are the big variances. The battery looks the same for each model. I think...

    Suzuki is done

The RMZ 450 completely made me a better rider. Still my favorite bike, but also was the end...o_O KTM's of that time-period were still trying to make the linkageless suspension work. My 2001 KTM250SX still shows up in my dreams with a sword trying to kill me!
