Looking for a long tame motocross track

I'm not looking to burn or tick off any track owners but this is what we're looking for...

A friend and I are looking for a longish MX track that does not have the big hero jumps like they have at Beans or jumps that have no backside (something that can't be rolled). The reason is we need a place to wring out some big girls to practice for some high speed off-road riding for Rallys. Fabio has a 990 and I ride a 950 or 640. I am willing to jump my 950 over average stuff like the small doubles and a few of the front straight jumps at Crow Canyon but Fabio has no MX experience. Broken spokes upper track would be good but they closed. Longer is better so you have more variety in the turns.

Ride 'em to the track? Know I couldn't get a big 950 and it's windshield in the back of my little HiPoint a few years ago.[/FONT]

Crow Canyon for sure. Very tame, if your looking for some tips and stuff another website I belong to is holding a ride/camp weekend there memorial day weekend. As goes for anyone who wants to come out.
 
BriarCliffMX, Nashport Ohio has their very popular B/C Track hat I am sure would fit the bill very safe and forgiving for novice and "NON AMA MX CHAMPION TITLE SEEKING SORTS". Might be awhile B4 opening this year with the unpredictable Ohio Weather. There is a link on this website In the Track Guide Non-Sanctioned section. They also have a trail loop.
Krash Racing At The SE Edge of Town in NEW LEXINGTON, OHIO.
FASTtraxx in South of NELSONVILLE, OHIO about 4 miles on right of US 33.
There are two other tracks in southern Ohio that may work as well Brimstone (not sure if they are still operating) and Wildwoodlake Both within about 5 miles of each other. located just north of Coolville Ohio.
Lake Bailey north of Cincinnati, Ohio seems timid enough.

Thanks, that beast is a total blast to ride. The 640 is fun too, last summer I spent almost 500 miles on it riding to a dual sport I did in southern Ohio and back

How old are you K01? I'm 47 and looking forward to relearning to jump the big ones like at Beans after being away from MX for over a decade.

Actually, I had finished laying out a Dual Sport trail that morning at Crow Canyon during the KTM Demo days and stuck that X on there as a joke to let the moto rats know there was a tank on the track! Yes I ride to the track when I ride the 950 or the 640. The 950 has a nice set of Gobi hard boxes that latch to the rear bars where I carry dry clothes, tools, spare tubes and such and in the winter use them as storage for my winter road gear while I'm in the woods. I just lock them to a tree or something solid, go ride, then get them on the way out. I also ride a plated 250 KTM that some of you may see rolling around Battlesburg or Crow Canyon. The 950 can actually do single track very well as long as it isn't really muddy, then the weigh gets too you very fast.

The picture of the 640 was taken after finishing a scramble at East Palestine. On the ride home I stopped to take some pictures of historic homes in Hanoverton. A guy approached me with an arm full of food and said I looked like I had been on the road for days and needed some food! I guess I should have taken some clean clothes with me for the ride home.

I'm enough older than you that I've given up on jumping much of anything. My last big KTM was a 525 about five years ago. I've regressed to a 125 now.

Your big bikes are cool! Don't think my friend with one years ago ever got off the road with his.
 
Sorry to here you gave up on the big girl, I've never owned a 125 two stroke but always enjoyed abusing others! Where you from? (not so I can abuse your clutch!)

People assume because something is as big as those 2 KTMs, they are un-ridable off-road, what they don't understand is, you can't muscle it around, you have to guide it where you want it to go like trying to put a gorilla back in its cage. There is a guy in the Columbus area that rides a 640 like it's a 250

I spent years racing big bores then one day out of curiosity I decided to race an old XR250 in a 2 hour scramble in the 250 class and had so much fun I ended up buying a new one and campaigning that for a couple years before closing the chapter on my racing (for a while). Now I decided I might race again so I picked up a 250XCF-W and raced it and had fun so this year I may try a couple motocross races too, something I haven't done since the mid nineties.
 
I'm Central and SE Ohio. I'm 4-stroke free but I still have some open older bikes. The 125's are my favorites right now!
 
Smith road raceway, might have to do some research cause I don't even know if they're open still. Haven't been there in years but it's always been an old school style mx track. Its in Medina Ohio I believe.
 
Haven't ridden at Smith since around 96 or 97, never even crossed my mind until now. I think that track only had one double and 5 whoops, the rest were just natural terrain back then.
 
KO1 is very wise . Old bones and big jumps are not a good match . You seem like a prime candidate for vintage racing ( I'm always trying to recruit ) . The tracks are much milder than the modern ones and you get to ride and race against all the cool old bikes from your youth . Keep an eye on the Old Guys . Old Bikes threads on here for info . Smith Road was the site of an AHRMA National a couple of years ago and was a perfect venue for the older bikes ; should be good for your behemoth too .
 
Yeah I highly doubt they'd change the layout at smith rd. One double and the whoops is it. Very fast and fun
