Battlesburg!

Hope everyone had a nice off season. We are getting a dozer down there Monday, and working all week. Hopefully, the weather is good enough to open up next weekend (March 26th and 27th).

Thanks Nick and Chet

Hey Chet throw us bone, what all you changing? Running backwards, new lay-out, whoop section?

please

your getting a dozer, please dont make the track gay worrying about the 80's on the big track, make some real jump like briarcliff and beans and hell even amherst for a change.I remember when Katin ran it and there was a six pack that would make your butt pucker then into a table, table.if you want to make good money this season, make it worth coming there, whoops, whoops, whoops, name a track that has a set of real whoops and ill kiss your ass. just my 2 cents

Please dont hold back, tell us how you really feel ! LOL

Seriously though Chet, I hope you have some BIG changes in mind. I think it will do you well to put some major changes in place !

Ummm I have to go bat here for Chet sorry. If you have never run a track before there is no way to ever please everyone. You just do the best you can and know that at the end of the day you put in your best effort for your riders whether they are on 85's or big bikes. Chet works hard, I know first hand. It ain't easy and every track owner knows you don't do it for the money, you do it for the love of the sport. If you don't like it go somewhere else. And I will name a track that had a killer set of whoops at one time...MX153 so pucker up brandon my ass is waiting.

Chet - (I called you on Friday) The set up you had last year was great. If you simply get it ready and open - great. No need to change that much. I have 3 mini riders coming along every time as well. I cannot wait! I love BB! Rich

Yeah the track last year was fine. The only thing i could see to add would be another table top on the high end of the track where there is no jumps maybe. Also would be cool to see more prep or work on the jumps that are there. I know that is a complaint i hear from a lot of pepple. I think the track is hard enough and one of the harder tracks ive ridden and jumps are for sure big enough. If it was made crazy like the op wants i would not be going. I know chet did a awsoem job with prepping the track the last few times i was there at end of season.

prep work and building a track for riders of all levels is hard.. dont bust his chops too much! it takes a lot more then you'll ever know unless you've got your own track to run. we've got a track we have open practice on and my dad is the only one who works on it. between owning his own construction company AND trucking company AND having to take care of the mx track.. he has no time for anything. he comes home from work at 7pm and heads right out to the track to get it ready for practice the next day. brandon, like that guy said.. if you've got a problem with the way the setup is, stop going there. you cant think about big bikes only. im sure you were on a mini once and couldnt do what the big bikes did...

come on now

dave you shouldnt even be included in this , your track is off the hook, 7 out of 10 80 riders wouldnt try half your jumps.you rode battlesburg when katin made it sweet about 5 years ago, now it is weak with beginner everything, beginners get better at better tracks, like beans, etc. money makes the world go round, 7 to 10 rides on saturday does not pay the bills, wont even pay to fill up the bobcat.hell even outlaw had whoops.

If you don't like what Battlesburg has, or will be this year, don't go. and don't complain about it. Chet, and every other track owner bust they're butts every time they have practice. I've helped at a few places, and its hard work!

From the sounds of it, you need to realize that "weak" tracks can also teach you a lot. Go to Red Bud once. The jumps on the track are anything but hard. (Don't bring up Larocco's Leap, its not hard, it's how much you can sack up). Track layout can be challenging and make you a better rider, like a 200 turns at burg. I like to think I'm a pretty decent rider, and I contribute a lot of that to the turns at Battlesburg.

Thanks for the props on MX153 brandon, and yes when Katin had it the place was incredible. My two years working with Chet at the Burg were rewarding and tiresome at the same time. Long story short, my family kept growing, MX153 was doing fairly well with lessons and the occasional open practice but I was spreading myself entirely too thin to put in my best efforts with Chet so I walked away. Unlike most partnerships that dissolve we remained friends. Why? Because we both love MX! It was never about the money. We had different ideas, as most people do when it comes to how a track should be. Based on MX153' reputation and Battlesburgs reputation it's quite obvious Chet and I were on opposite ends of the spectrum. At present Battlesburg provides a safe rider friendly track for the beginners. We were all beginners at one time! I can honostly say that I do wish Chet could bring back the Burg to what it once was. I think he can do it, and when he does I'll pucker up and kiss his butt! hahaha

No dog in the fight

I don't really have a dog in this fight. BUT, I really can't see having whoops in an outdoor track, unless it is an outdoor SX track, Which some places do have in addition to MX.
MX tracks are MX tracks and if your suspension is set up for MX I don't see the benefit of suckin up whoops and packing your rear shock in a whoops section.
No one can complain about trying to be safer. I mean a 60 ft tabletop is the same as a 60 foot double. Just wont break you if you are short. I just don't see the "Pay dearly to play" reasoning.
If a track is created safe and still challenging, more people will benefit, all the way around. Its a win, win.

LOL !!! And you want something harder than the Burg ????? I'll give you that Dave's jumps are harder than the burg but they arent hard by any means ! If you cant jump everything at Dave's house you better go practice at one of your 'weak' tracks some more !

in my opinion...go ahead cbb brandon and bust me....what the track has for jumps is less important than the condition of the take off and landing. Cupped out faces that throw you differently every lap are good practice for nationals...but they are dangerous for the majority of the riders there. Likewise a landing that is a 90 degree drop is less than forgiving. The layout of Battlesburg was great the last time I was there.

Make the take offs smooth and safe along with the landings and any rider can have fun there...

Interesting how every thread in the Open Practice forum now turns into track bashing and "you should do this and this to the track" posts.:confused:

i love whoops.. its one of few things (besides corners) that can separate riders. anyone can go out and jump something.. little section of them here or there an an outdoor track is fine i think. like tv land or crow both have some little whoops.. would be nice if they were big i don know you can really call them whoops but the idea is there lol

i like big rollers though that you can either kind of bounce or rhythm through... thats more fitting for an outdoor track and real fun to ride!

lots of places to ride in ohio. no reason to hate on one place. be glad you have as many choices as you do.
