Mountain Fest

Anyone going to WV to race Mountain Fest this weekend for their MX or Harescramble races?

Wish we were going as the track being located on a hill side is lots of fun with lots of generous off cambers
but my back is still acting up.

Was at the doctor yesterday & after 2 years of trying different thing my options have about run out as
the spine specialist is referring me to chronic pain management. Sucks for me as this was not a racing
injury but caused by an auto accident from a road raging maggot who got arrested at the scene. Typical
case of the low life's messing it up for the decent people but what do you do.

Good luck to those racing!

I must of missed what happened to your bikes Mike...did they both go belly up or just need to be freshened up?

I need to split the cases on my RM250 to replace the main bearings and the crank bearing...at least one of those bearings is shot so might as well replace everything else in the bottom end while I'm at it.

I'd thought about the HS there as well as the HS at VMD. I've been on vacation the last couple weeks and with this hot weather it's been difficult leave the lake. Anyway, I've discovered that my old bikes tend to run hot on this hot weather. I melted a hole in my good vented pants at a GP a couple weeks ago. And I'm in decent shape for my age but I tend to get warm riding the old bikes in this weather too. These races would be a whole lot more appealing in a cooler season, like the Fall for example.

The lake was good for old school jet skiing today.

My KDX needs a top end and maybe cylinder work, she started rattling pretty good after Anthony got done with her. (I'm considering a complete tear down, it's due.)
I wrote a book on the YZ250 story. You'll have to jump to that post to read it.

By the way, I love your bike pic's in your gallery. Is that YZ an 1980?

So did anybody go to Mountain Fest?

Love to read some good vintage racing summaries and see some pic's.

Yep, I caught your post on getting the hoses swapped around on your Yam, I could see how you'd be bummed about that but I'm sure it won't happen again :)

My YZ250's a 1981, and much like you, I learned something that weekend...I'll always bring my 81 YZ250 as a backup to my RM250. I was so confident in the RM that I just blew off bringing the YZ as a backup...bad decision! To top it off, I've actually been anxious to race the YZ, I did the new springs and gold valves in the forks and had Race Tech do their shock mod and it felt great riding it out at Briarcliff on the C track. If it wasn't so hot and muggy for the Mid Ohio weekend I would of ridden the YZ in a second class. With the heat and such I could see myself cramping up and being too whipped to ride 4 motos.
