Supercross Class Stats: New Orleans
The first race was held on June 4, 1977, and Marty Smith won on a Honda; it was the last Supercross Class win of his career
At the inaugural race inside the Superdome, there were eight different brands of motorcycles on the gate: Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Bultaco, Maico, Husqvarna, and Can-Am
Supercross Class racing took place at the Superdome from 1977-1980, and in 1980, the venue hosted a double header race, which was the last race in New Orleans until 1998
From 1998-2002, the championship returned to the Superdome
This will be the 12[SUP]th[/SUP] time the gate will drop for a Supercross Class race in New Orleans
In 1979, Jeff Ward made the second Supercross Class start of his career and finished ninth

So why was Barcia extra angry about his Houston loss?
Barcia took two wins in his 2010 rookie season, three en route to last year’s title, and has five more this year. That’s 10 career wins in all, tying him with Ivan Tedesco and Mickael Pichon for 13th on the all-time Lites list. But if Barcia can win the final two races this year and push his total to 12, he’ll quickly ratchet up to a tie for fourth all-time, alongside 125 luminaries like Ricky Carmichael, Damon Huffman, Christophe Pourcel, Ryan Dungey, Brian Swink, Ernesto Fonseca and Kevin Windham. That’s good company.
Ahead on the list sits Jeremy McGrath with 13 wins, Nathan Ramsey with 15, and James Stewart at the all-time top with 18. Barcia only has two more Lites races left in his career (the East/West Shootout doesn’t count for all-time career wins) so he can only get to 12. Makes that harsh loss in Houston loom a little larger.

Let the speculation begin. But for those that didnt read the link above, heres a quote from the article.
"This is a rider so polarizing that he once had to show a video of himself emerging from ACL surgery to prove he had actually had ACL surgery. He had dropped out of the 2008 SX season the week after winning a race in Phoenix, which set off all sorts of crazy conspiracy theories, including the idea that James was “sitting out” because he was mad at Kawasaki for singing with Monster Energy. True? False. Not only did Stewart have ACL surgery (with video proof, too boot), but he returned to the Kawasaki team that summer, ran the Monster logos, and dominated the AMA Nationals to the tune of a perfect season...
Now we know what comes next—endless James-Stewart-style conjecture over what comes next! In the same manner as ACL surgery possibly not being ACL surgery, his rough season has quickly kicked off rumors of a Stewart/JGR breakup. Other riders have had bad years before, but rare is it for a deal with such promise in January to be rumored to be finished by April.
For the record, Stewart has never uttered one bad thing about his team or bike. But he doesn’t have to for people to get talking. For example, while it seems widely known and understood that James doesn’t get along with the current generation Yamaha, he has never once actually said that in an interview. And even now, while rumors swirl that he could be out at JGR, either by his decision, theirs, or both, you’ve never heard a word from Stewart, not once, about not liking the team or wanting out. Somehow, with Stewart, these things either leak out or simply get made up. In the case of not really getting ACL surgery in 2008, it wasn’t true. In the case of 2012? Anything is possible. That’s James Stewart for you."

now i know half the rumors we read are bs, but i have now today read from three seperate sources a rumor that JS7 is done with JGR, and that when we see him line up at the nationals it could be on a red bike.

how sweet would that be, id love to see him on a new bike with a new team, maybe get his s*** together.

I just watched the Great Outdoors vid from the season he went 24-0. It would be great to see him in that form again with everyone at the top of their game and healthy ! .... but wouldnt we all ?

lol. that was the point of me posting that quote from the racerx article. he sits out and the rumors start pouring in like clock work. the only reason he raced houston was because RV could have broke a leg or something. there was still a very minimal chance at the title. remember 2010? st. louis? james wants to race nascar. hes not going anywhere.

I agree Barrington. He is going Nascar.....not gonna blow a possible opportunity with a top tier team. Injuries will force him to get off a bike sooner than thought, and he will be trying to make the race in a Craftsman Truck series race very soon.

Why would Stewart be on a Honda? I think he can opt out of his contract but I think it's after two years or maybe the team can fire him after two years. I can't remember exactly. Either as I think he owes it to his team to run outdoors. I doubt he will though

At this point I have no interest in SX anymore for this season. Sad, when you think about how awesome last season was.

Even Barrington was saying that finding info this week was tough -- I think even people in the industry don't care anymore!
