Roaming Shores is a great area for them. It's a 8 mile long private lake (plenty of water and fish resource) and it's mostly Rural. Most of the homes out where my parents live are for the uppity's who just come out for that weekend getaway. About 1/4 of the residents live their full time, the other 75% live in the big city.
So it's like a perfect stomping ground for Bear. Minimal traffic, and lots of garbage at the curbsides after the major summer holidays...
And I've seen Bear cubs cross RT. 307 many times (about 4 or so times) about 1/4 mile WEST of Rt 534. Either they come directly up Harpersfield road or just West of the road through a large cemetary. Not sure if the cubs just don't realize there's isnt anyplace to go...There is the harpersfield covered bridge at the bottom of the ravine right there and they seem to like the broad creek, then they come up the ravine across the road and usually turn around when they find out that rt 90 is in their path another 3/4 mile north of 307.....
And wow, what a BADASS creature. So vibrant, almost gives me chills and gets me to thinking how lucky and glad I am to be an American!
