The track debuted on the schedule in 2005. Teams were really struggling to deal with the Colorado altitude and summer heat, especially since most factories were racing four-strokes outdoors for the first time. Bikes were burbling and fuel was boiling, but, not surprisingly, Ricky Carmichael was winning. He went 1-1 to take the victory. Thundervalley also replaced our beloved Ohio national.

john250 is in colorado and jumped on to the track and ran infront of stew to make him crash. man, that guys hate for JS is on a whole new level!

he had plenty of time , we all knew it was coming , 7 DOWN . No one made contact with him he just crashed.

Stewie had plenty of time to aviod the flagger and was nowhere near hitting him. He crashed all on his own

I would imagine that is a huge distraction though. That has to make you lose focus.

yea, its really hard to tell from that view. but the racing line was to the right i believe, so if he was trying to go that way and saw the squirel in the road and didnt know where he was going to go. and then ended up in the mud...
ill hold my opinion until someone posts a 3rd person video. but it is hard to believe that ANYone would crash on a straight away like that all alone.

btw. word is broken wrist.

From James himself (thru Ping) Stew says it distracted him...and it forced him into a line he hadn't taken before.

some are going to say it really did and others will say hes lying and they KNOW it wouldnt. either way it sucks. especially if the broken wrist rumor is correct. who wants to watch dungey ride alone all summer?

At the pace the pro's are riding especially #7 or #5 that kind of stuff can make you loose focus and bam your on the ground before you know what happens. I hope Stewie is all good and no broken wrist cause if so Dungey is going to run away with it and in every podium speech he better thank the flagger for making Stewie loose focus or for him going down.

RD seemed bummed after the 1st moto even though he won. I think he really was dissappointed Bubba crashed out. I really don't think he is happy about what happened.

Now all we can hope for are bad starts from RD to make good racing in the 450's.

Maybe, James will let Alessi ride his bike. I'd bet it would way more interesting then.

Hmmm . They said Dungey had a plan for Stewart . At first I thought that flagger/photog/whatever might be Dungey's mom but Barrington's John250 theory might have merit . Wonder if whoever it was now has a new KTM in their garage and free tickets for the rest of the season ? J/K . I like Dungey and he was my pick for season champ but we all wanted to see him do it straight up with a healthy JS7 .

Sure looked like the person was clear to the right edge of the track by the time Stewy got there and the crash was a ways after . Distracting - yes , somewhat . More distracting than the first turn or the 39 other racers ?

That track looked TOUGH ! Super long , deep ruts , braking/acceleration bumps , slick in one place , hard packed and even a little dusty in another . The rain didn't seem to affect things as much as I thought it would .

I am amazed and pleased that race coverage was continued by both networks even though rain delay made things run long . You know how mx coverage usually takes a back seat to all other sports and is pre-empted . Was it just me or did Emig seem to have altitude sickness ? At first he stuttered and sputtered so much he couldn't get a complete thought out ( more so than usual ) and in all the track map segments he talk about just about anything but the actual track .
