I am trying to remove the cylinder on my 01 CR250 and can't seem to get the left side to break free. The right side appears to be loose. I have tried tapping around the base with a soft mallet. Anyone have any other ideas?
Try a different position with the piston. move it down to the bottom of the stroke. A rubber mallet should do it, tap, tap, tap. Also just try moving it lose with your hands if the one side is already loose.
Common to corrode, rust and then hang up in the aluminum cylinder. Each time I've sent a cylinder out for boring or plated and have to remove the dowels, they usually get destroyed trying to remove and I end up having to order new and replacing. A little anti-sieze when resetting them pays off down the road.
