I am in need of a 4th and 5th trasnmission gear for a 74 yz250. There is a place in pa that has them but asking $130/each. If it comes to that i will get them but wanted to check and make sure there isnt any secret locations that has old parts.

When I was building my 500 (1978) I found most of the NOS and used parts I needed on Ebay.
If I couldn't find it there, Speed and Sport in PA and Lancaster Sports Cycles were my next choices.
For future reference, you might also try Bobby J's in Albuquerque who has been around forever.

Your post doesn't specify which gear (drive or pinion) so from the Speed and Sports parts fiche for YZ250C
(which is combined with the '77 & '78 fiche)
4th pinion 509-17141-00
5th pinion 509-17151-00
4th wheel 365-17241-00
5th wheel 509-17251-00

Assuming these part numbers are correct, I found all these, NOS, on Ebay ranging in price from $9 to $43.
The '76 YZ250C was a very cool bike at the time! My buddy Zip rode one. I had a YZ400C. I don't remember
making many changes to the bikes other than replacing those bulbous air caps with spring fork caps modified to
accept a Schrader valve to save weight.
Hope this helps!

Yes that helps a bunch. Thanks for the info. I need the wheel and i have the part number. I have glanced on ebay and have already got the 3rd gear wheel on there. Found the shift drum from a dealer in indiana i believe

I was also uncertain on the nos parts but you have answered that for me. Lol.

I have a friend who probably has more parts for that bike then everyone in the USA. PM me for his number. Stay away from Speed and Sport. They are awful with their prices and the way they treat their customers.

This was the bike I built to race, turned out to be the bike that almost killed me. Ended up selling the bike to Chris Emshoff.
