Yeah they need to keep it up. Someone is trying to say Honda is bringing back the cr next year which I think is total bull but whatever.

I would love to ride a 2011 250SX fitted with the 300cc SXS kit! That would be a bike after my heart just like the old days, I rode a 300SX in the VET B Class at Loretta Lynn's in 1999 as the last 2 stroke I raced there. Had it not been for losing my shifter one moto, I would have finished in the top 10 that year.

I have been kickin' around the idea of switching back to a 2 stroke 250. I have even found some new/leftover 2007 cr 250's.....not sure what I'll do?

Funny how the media are slowly coming back to the 2T bandwagon. Remember when they were pro 4T development what, ten years ago? The OEMs built it, the media sold it (heavily) and we all bought them. They were sold as being more powerful and more torque than the two strokes. For some reason, no one bought 500 2 strokes because they were too powerful and too much torque. Can someone explain THAT one too me?

Now, ten to fifteen years on, the actual cost of ownership is here. Resale values are in the commode. Same customer base (smaller, actually) that for the most part did NOT understand jetting or powervalve maintenance is now obligated to handle more complex oiling systems, valvetrains and more complex carbs or EFI? Fact of the matter is there are more parts inside a 4T and they are much higher precision. We received what we asked for 10 to 15 years ago.

For what it's worth, Id' be surprised to see Honda bring the 2T back. Honda had a corporate philosophy of no more 2T after 2007. They would have to be able to sell in excess of 10000 units per year globally (10k 125 and 10k 250). How many will you buy? Low sales volume is why we never saw a CR65.

The solution? Go buy a 2T and have a good time. Maybe, MAYBE we could even get enough of us to have a 2T class in the District or series races? Heck, we have enough Peewee and Vet classes...

I got back into riding after being on a 15 yr. break getting married and having kids. I bought a KTM 250 2 smoker and rode it last year racing some mx and harescrambles. This year I thought about buying a 450 4 stroker because it seemed everyone was riding them. Then I heard everyone complaining about dumping tons of money into the 4 strokes to keep them going and god forbid if it blew up the money you had to dump into it. So after long thought I decided to stick with the 2 smoker and bought a 08 YZ 250. I know how to work & maintain a 2 stroke and have always found them fun to ride. I think as long as I am riding it will always be on a 2 stroke. I beat plenty of 4 strokes last year on my 04 KTM 250exc woods bike racing mx and harescrambles.

I'm not convinced. I do not think I would ever switch back without a thumper in the garage. Also, I would never switch back to anything less than a 300 2-stroke. It's all about the ease of ride. I'm not a screamer nor a "conformer". I do not do things 'cause everyone else and their mother are doing it. I do it 'cause it works for me. The thumper works for me. The only thing that doesn't is the weight. This is why I think the next 2 stroke I will have will my my 2007 KX450f converted to a KX500AF 2 stroke. Some of you can make fun as you will. I'm cool with that, but we'll have to wait and see won't we.

Don't get me wrong, I am a two stroke fan hard core, just can't ride them. I so miss the heard of the bees on the start, the brap brap, and the cheaper repair costs. But then again on the repair costs, you have to do it more often on the smokers so does it all equal out? Haven't added it up nor will I.

At any rate, long live the smoker. May we never see it die and as LL Cool J says...."Don't call it a comeback! I've been here for years!..."

OK, I'm out... ;)
