Did ANYONE see an AMA offical?

If you do not like what I post then do me a favor and just skip over anything I post. The freaking bobble head yes men that agree with everything they are spoon fed by the AMA and or any other sanction body or promoter makes me sick but I don't tell other people to stop posting. Complaints bring improvements.
The #1 plate us to actually mean something. It was awarded to the winner of a pro SERIES. Now they give them away to a guy that shows up at one race and wins against 5 other guys. Why dilute the meaning? Come up with a new award
I am very happy VMD is a success. I love that event I attended at least 7 year straight. But if the fact I said "old guys" bothers you then apparently the obvious bothers you. Here is big news. Most of the people in attendance are old guys. Like me
The original point was and still is the "battle for Ohio" is in the backyard of the AMA. The AMA is trying to change its self discribed bad reputation with local motocross all over the country. What better way then by showing a presents at the largest event in your home state?
And for your first "point" of complaining if one was there and not more. Guess we will never know.

Keep it up if no one complains or voices there opinion nothing gets resolved, I have seen a few issues posted on PR that get resolved because people get to put there 2 cents in. I agree with your bitch about the AMA (where did all that money go I just spent for LLQ ?) but not so much as to have a official at all local amateur races, ecpeccialy if there is a bigger race going on at the same time. There are lots of ama sanctioned races all over the US and im sure they cant get to all of them.

The only money the AMA gets from the qualifier is a sanction fee paid by promoters, I think its like $300, the $10 form fees goes to Mx Sports, the rest is the promoters. If you attended the BC Qualifier I'd be happy to show you where your money went. Its not hard to figure out, lol.

My apologies I was meaning the extra 50$ I had to pay per class at regionals to mx sports

I usually get tired of ck's posts as well. However, he's right a lot, this time included, but I'll throw my two in as well. I work in commercial construction. This situation here is similar to a construction manager (ama), a prime contractor (oma/chillitown) and an owner (us idiots - we pay the bills) . How do you think an owner would feel if he hired a construction manager (ama) to build a project but never saw him? Say the prime contractor (oma) were the only ones doing all of the work and solving all of the problems. Why would the owner (us) pay for the construction manager's services if they aren't really needed? We are the paying customer and we are the ones going along with it, so be careful bashing the system. We are all supporting it.

Now, before everyone takes up their pitch forks, don't forget that we all wanted mx to grow in Ohio. The facts are, the oma got themselves a couple of qualifiers and a quad national. That's not possible without the ama's "help" . So I say good for the oma. Not a good look for the ama right this second, but let's not lose what we've gained. In the words of the great Aaron Rodgers, relax.

It appears that ck1racerx's AMA beef knows no bounds here on PR. We all have our own positions on these types of situations, he just posts on it more so it identifies his stance in a greater light. Squeaky wheel and all.....

My difference of opinion with ck1racerx on his statements of the (paraphrased) "agenda of money", be it the AMA or MX Sports, is: "Build a better mouse trap, prove that it works better and is less expensive" and people will build a path to your door. If the personal agenda is all huff, and no puff (Knox=Big Bad Wolf).....well, there you go.

So you're saying there's no real incentive money wise for the AMA in the first place besides getting people to fork out the $49/yr with free road side assistance.....?

I must contradict you on this. While it is correct it isnt the way it usually works. As stated before many issues have been resolved solely because there has been discussions/ complaints on here and other places that has improved MX right here in Ohio for all of us. The real problem isnt the suggestions to improve, its the way people perceive them. If they are taken as constructive ( No matter the tone given ) then improvements can be thought about and implemented if required. If the suggestions/ complaints are taken with a defensive tone then you get a bashing session and everyone gets pissed off.

Its all about the right attitude of the person the suggestions are given to.

If you guys want to bash on me and the AMA... that's ok, I'm man enough to take criticism. I have to do better. I apologize for not being there.

I plan on attending Malvern and Briarcliff and hopefully riding (Unless my wife goes into labor probably the weekend of Briarcliff). But let's stick to the positives, one of the largest events in the state of Ohio in a long time. I applaud the OMA group, Jeremey Forcum and his crew, they deserve all the credit. For all the skeptics out there, you should be proud, Ohio motocross is live and well... and in good hands.

No, I'm saying that AMA doesn't get a chunk of money from any qualifier or regional event

If they don't get any of that why did your prices go up from the spring series to the area? Does that mean those area qualifier prices are going to be the normal price at bcliff now?

Pregnant wife? Thats no excuse! Lol....

Congratulations and good luck! Hope it all goes well for the 3 of you.

Alex, It is not JUST YOU at the AMA. I have never seen an organization work chart for the AMA but there must be other people working with amateur motocross??? BUT you are the only one that seems to respond to anything (Thank you) so unfortunate for you, you are the face of the AMA. Your a racer so we know you care.
The OMA group including Jeremey have done an outstanding job elevating motocross in Ohio to levels never seen before. I want to believe the AMA as a whole now cares about local motocross so I would assume the AMA and every promoter / track owner would want to show a presents at events like this. Copy what is working at these big OHIO events and spread it across the country.
Don't apologize, make the others in the office in Pickerington feel how you do about local moto.
Most important, good luck to you and your wife with the new little one on the way.

My guess is they just aren't set up to have officials at local events. Hense the districts. Back in the day, when the Coombs were a big part of D5, there were officials attending even the smallest local D5 races. Every weekend. And they enforced rules! And this was over 30 years ago! This isn't a new concept that we're trying to grasp here. For example, they implmented the color number plate for what class you were in, so if there was 250A and B classes on the track at the same time, the A riders had white plates with black numbers and B had yellow with black numbers, and you were in the B class and a guy came up on you and you glanced over at him and notice that he's in the A class, you let him by knowing he's racing for money and your not. Common sense stuff liker that. The districts served a purpose. They seemed to have the responsability of track officials. They took care of all district matters, or brought the matter to the attention of district office personnel. Seems to me that OMA is the district, so mabey they should have the official/support personnel to handle matters. MHO

Because thats what we charged last year at the Area Q, and its the going rate at all Area Qualifiers. I charged more, because thats the fair market cost, and we arent going to build this facility on nickels and dimes. No, thats not the norm now, the Battle will be priced exactly like Malvern and Chilli Town.

Now with that said, we invested over 35k in a well system with enough capacity to eventually expand that all over the place, and we spent nearly that same amount on driveway improvements. Im not done with that, we probably have about another 10-15k left to get the smaller stuff on all of it. I suppose that should come from my day job paycheck, right? You should ride the Cliff more, take pictures, the place changes month to month.

As an AMA representative answered me last year when I asked of what value it would be to us to have an AMA sanctioned class for a once a year event, he said, "It's for the prestige of being sanctioned by the AMA." Apparentiy $49 per rider buys a lot of prestige.

A race is a race. I don't see how the prices go up whether it's an area or not that makes no sense. I don't care what improvements you do to the place that's your choice. That doesn't mean I am going to pay more to come there because you put stones on the driveway.

I am not as concerned with what the AMA does or does not do for MX but I do like that they have attempted to keep vintage alive and tried new things for me. However in reading through this thread besides what Georgie said above lets think about what you do get for your $49.

Roadside assistance - the starter on my wifes car went out while I was out of town in our driveway. They had a tow there in less than 1/2 hour to pull it a mile to the shop. My 16 year old daughter got a flat at the mall, again I was out of town, they had someone there within 1/2 hour and switched it out. Sure is nice to know I have this.

Fighting for us - ethanol, insurance companies dropping motorcyclists, land use issues, closure for sound, safety laws, and just overall representing our rights and us getting walked on by everyone that thinks motorcycles are no good. What would any of you do if your insurance sent you a letter saying they would not cover your family for motorcycle related injuries? What other organizations in the US defend motorcyclists in DC? I feel these issues are hugely important.

Discounts - I stayed Choice Hotels for years and saved 15%, Eagle Rider 10% to get to rent some cool bikes, Sams Club free $10. Many others depending on what you like.

Me I am good with spending what I spend to go BW-3 with my family of 4 to have this for a year.
