Nickota vintage race sept 5/6 who's in ?

Its really been a hard year to be an AMA Vintage MX fan. I hoped, and still hope that the AMA will create a viable platform for Vintage & Post Vintage MX.

An original "GRAND TOUR" schedule of 9 events, 3 of which were cancelled, 1 that was a disaster, and a fantastic VMD weekend. Outside of Mid Ohio which is in a category of its own that leaves 4 events in 2016. Not what I expected when Alex announced as a "IMPROVED 2016 VINTAGE SCHEDULE"

With only 1 AMA event scheduled from July 12 to the end of the year it might have made sense (and seems pretty easy) for the AMA to schedule it on a date without another Vintage event. It's too bad, I would have enjoyed the NIKOTA event had it been any other date.

It will be interesting to see how, and if the AMA moves forward in 2016.

I know it's really hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel... so hopefully this helps show the AMA commitment to Vintage racing.

Labor Day weekend only at Nickota... each participant at the event will have a chance to win TWO FREE tickets to the 2016 Indianapolis Supercross and pit passes.

Here's the deal:
1. Show up to the Nickota on Sept 6th
2. Sign up to race a Vintage or Post Vintage class
3. At intermission one lucky participate will have their name drawn from a hat and will win TWO FREE tickets to the 2016 Indianapolis Supercross and pit passes

Alex, not meant to be critical, just a bit frustrated when there are limited Vintage MX events on an annual basis, it sucks have to choose between two that both look like quality events.

I will keep my eye on the tunnel, old guys are forever optimistic............

I am in at Nikota and looking forward to the track.

Mike, regarding old dudes generally, optimistic is not the word I or others might use to describe us, but hey I'm optimistic we all have some optimism left in us. I am optimistic we can keep Vintage viable and grow participation in Post Vintage and Non-Current classes.

Alex, an approximately $100 give away is helpful to promote this event and appreciated, but I don't know that I would have picked the words "shows AMA's commitment to Vintage racing".

There have been some decent suggestions over the past few months on this site with realistic suggestions on how to increase participation.

A big part of my job is new business development including market segmentation identification, figuring out what groups are serviceable for my product lines, and then figuring out how to motivate customers.

I would be glad to volunteer a day and I bet a few others might also to come to Pickerington for a session to work on this challenge.

It's close to my house and I support AMA vintage racing anytime. I personally think they do a better job, better classes and a lot less politics than AHRMA. I do agree that it would have been nice not to compete with AHRMA on the same weekend.

I think the AMA class structure is what AHRMA is missing. At most AHRMA national events, there are not enough racers for three skill levels per class per cc. AHRMA needs to have Beginner/Advanced or Novice/Expert class structure. Racing by yourself sucks. I was going to try and hit the Delta AHRMA race but it falls on one of our Michigan Vintage MX race dates.

That was really the point I was trying to make, its tough for the promoters primarily. There will be 20 - 25 guys at Lake Sugar Tree that would be at the Kentucky race if the schedules were coordinated. Ultimately that costs the promoter $2,000 +/- in revenue on approximately the same cost basis, so they are less inclined to hold vintage races in the future.

Well if you are by Cleveland,,,,come to Harvestpalooza!!!! I will be jamming on the guitar and free food. Wahoooo

As long as the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train coming at me! Both organizations will never work together again... It would be a wonderful thing if they would but I personally don't think it will happen in my life time... so we are forced to make choices. I am actually going to ride the AHRMA CC (ISDT Reunion Ride) event in Athens,Ohio held the same weekend as Lake Sugar Tree & Nickota. I have been to Lake Sugar Tree and it's truly an awesome venue so all of you who are debating just the MX portion which I still love to do I had to choose between the (3) vintage events... Since I'm older, fatter & wiser I chose the CC event this time!

What day is the CC on ? Is there a flyer posted anywhere with the schedule on it ? I would like to come over and see everyone.

Rode practice today - good track and great people. If you have a way to make it please make it happen.

Very light crowd at Nickota but has the makings of a great vintage classic if 1) they even try it again 2) we can pull the racers to the event. I really hope the owners will give it another try, but honestly don't blame them if they don't. I'd to give big thanks to Bill88 for let me ride his 83 CR in the second moto. Dano where the heck were you ?
