Oma classes...

ok so my son just graduated from a crf125f to an yz85 (zero rides).. Our original plan was to race the upcoming tv land event on his 125 in a trail bike class... (For fun more than winning).
He 12 and I see there's an 85 class for that.. My question is which of these classes are the one with the kids "hauling the mail" ... Don't wanna put him where he doesn't belong.

The kids in the 85 class can haul it. TV land is overall pretty safe, he should be fine wherever you put him.

Will they allow him to be in the D class since he's never raced?

My son races the 85 class. You have to start somewhere. Tv land is a great place. Tell your son to hold his line and the faster kids will get around him. If he turned 12 after the first of the year he can race 85 jr. If he was 12 when the year started he is 85 sr. Both classes have fast kids.

The D class is a big bike class, far more dangerous for a kid in there, than the 85 class. He will be fine, seat time seat time seat time. Get him riding a lot.

Mini Jr. on the YZ 85. He is better off on that bike with better suspension anyway. There are some fast kids but they will get away quick and he will be fine.

Send him right to the 85 gate and tell him to have fun. He will be fine. And will love it.
