New starting gate getting set up for this weekend, take that A HOLE (Weasel)

I've been going to Dirt Country since the late 80s. You know why I go back time after time....the people. You wont find two better people in Rocky and Cindy running a facility. They go out of their way to try to make people happy, and have NEVER over charged people. $10 entry......BC was $15 last week to get in for one day on Sunday. $25 per class, $20 for second class. Most tracks, no discount for 2nd class. They are one of the only tracks still offering track Bucks. I've left Dirt Country with enough in Track Bucks to almost pay for most of my next race at Dirt Country.

One day at DC during practice a storm blew in.......Many people opted for getting their money back. DC gave anyone their money back, and when we were leaving they gave us our gate fee back!! How many tracks do that? I know for fact, that Rocky and Cindy are not getting rich running the track. Hell they would be better off probably if they did with less hassles.

I spoke with Rocky at the end of last season. He said they needed to do something different if they were going to stay in the MX business, because the SW Ohio series was not helping them. I promoted the OMA to Rocky and spoke highly of them getting into the OMA. It is a great organization, and needed a track in SW Ohio.

This year they replaced the gate. It is not a difficult track, its fast, and some like it like that. The numbers show it. Their rider count is much better than many other tracks. Chris posted the numbers of all the SWOHMX and OMA tracks last fall.

I personally think some of the jumps could use built up a little, and maybe some minor changes, but I also am good with it the way it is......variety is good. Prep is always good And the dirt is 100 times better than it was 30 years ago when I started racing there. Rocky and Cindy do a lot with limited amounts of help. I will continue to support their facility for sure.

Place is a s**t hole. Track died when Shannon died.
Collin, seriously....You went to Treaty City and raced this year, and your bashing Dirt Country?

BTW, where were you at BC two weeks ago......you owe me an entry fee for that Bubba bet you lost. Come down to DC Sunday, you can pay my entry down there.

We had a blast at the AHRMA race the people were fantastic. How can we help. What can we do to make it better. How would the vintage guys like the track prep. They are off the chart for track owners-operators. We are looking forward to the next race there this fall.

He doesn't race BC because we don't offer 30BC, and because of our strick no male tampon rule
He might just be waiting for the OBAMA mandated Transgender class, if he feels like a douche bag, then he should be allowed to ride the Douche bag class, we all voted he is qualified

Boy,you sure do get worked up over nothing especially since you have zero stake in Dirt Country.

I'm guessing you don't go anywhere but DC but if you ever do we can finish this conversation in person if you want.
Oh, I will be at Briarcliff tomorrow.

I am pretty sure your whiny ass rant about Dungey on 12 different websites did a lot of good.

Good or bad it’s my opinion and this is a public forum.

Difference is I wasnt bashing a track, just the real person behind the public face....on 2 websites. But as you are correct, this ( and the others) are public forums and opinions are required even when people dont like them. Doesnt make you an a*****e, just another person with a preference that you are allowed to have.

BTW, there is a VET C class in the OMA.

I am more interested in the "B" part of 30+B/C.

Well the new starting gate was very nice. The track prep was PERFECT. 90+ degrees and no dust all day. Rocky did a great job of ripping it deep and plenty of water. I still cant believe how good the dirt is now after all those years of hard pack and dust.
I was very disappointed with the turnout. Practice day there was riders everywhere and then on race day everyone left and the entry number was down to @ 137. That is roughly half the number they have averaged over the past couple years. I assume the regional at Baja pulled away a few but where was everyone else? All you hear on here is how great it is to be in the OMA, well clearly they got more riders before. For years the old man classes would always draw 20 to 25 riders. Yesterday they had 4 in 40+. Cant be that many dudes that went to Michigan.
Cindy, Rocky and crew did a super job of keeping the program moving. Everyone got 5 laps and racing was finished by 3pm.
Yes, the track needs to be rebuilt as it is pretty worn down and super fast but still, I have seen much, much worse.

On a super positive note: I got one of those moments in time that I will never forget. My boy got 5th of 11 in 65 open and earned his first REAL award. After the last moto I was walking back to the truck and he ran up, hugged me and said "I did it". He was so proud of himself and I was so happy that we forgot to say goodbye to everyone we pitted with. Yeap, never forget that one.

That's great to hear the prep is going well. Turnouts have been hit and miss this year, for some reason the riders have "other things to do". Congrats on your sons improvement. To be honest, I don't know how the OMA could reduce the number of riders. Are you thinking it scared away their core customer base? Or that its too far for the OMA rider to drive? Totally disagree with Baja, regional riders weren't coming down regardless. Maybe the positive about practice will spread and people will think twice for the next race?? Since you have a vested interest in its success, maybe you should help promote it. Be the megahorn, post pics, talk it up. Be a positive in the whole deal.

what is disappointing to me are the people who have always raced the SWOH series that do not go to any OMA race, whether it be BC, or Chilitown that are close. I look at the results, and many are still racing Treaty City and COCR, but now didn't show up at Dirt Country. Makes no sense to me. I've never been one to chase points, we've always raced SWOH, OMA, race in KY, FL or where ever. I just race the races I want to go to.
Has nothing to do with the $25 OMA card either, hell you get $20 of that back. I wish I could figure it out. Because DC and DMC usually averaged 20 to 25 vets at some races.

Heat killed me in moto 2, thought I was gonna die....but Rocky did a great job on the track considering it was 93 degrees.

So COCR had about 86 entries, so I heard from last weekend. So where did those riders go, were they at DC? What other race was going on this past weekend, that was relatively close (within 2 hours)? Did those SW riders just take the weekend off from riding. I had a few practicers from down that way, but I'm talking 4-5. Is the Southwest area drying up?

Awesome!! That feeling hasnt gone away for me yet!

Beating a dead horse with JO here but what are the difference in classes between the 2 ?

Like myself I know of 8-12 riders that don't do OMA because there isn't a 25+b/c or 30+ b/c.

How many riders are in +25 or + 30 ??? There is a Vet C class that was added already for the slower riders that came about because of this same argument. So basically you are asking for 25 and 30 A,B,C classes? Im 48 and I ride +30, you and your friends need to stop worrying about your trophy and come ride! You will run into the same riders in your 40's and 50's so dont think it gets easier as you get older. The more people on the line the more fun the race! Isnt that what its about?

I see what you’re doing here.. It’s not about the trophy , it’s about having a chance. Almost every organization has 25+ and 30+ B/C and 25+/30+ A with payback.

So you are telling me you wouldn’t have more fun if you had a chance to run up front?

I have no idea why people did not race. There had to be close to 150 BIKES on Saturday. And Saturday prep was spot on also. Track rutted up good and even at the end of the day the dust was minimal. I don't know if the OMA thing drove them away but I cant think of anything that was different than the year before. I find it hard to believe ANYONE would have left because of prep. I will say it again. Prep was PERFECT. Service from signup to running the program to awards was quick, friendly and smooth as glass. Maybe racing is drying up in the south half. Sad to say. I just don't understand the guys that would rather practice than race???
They even improved the PA system. The announcer did a fine job informing everyone about the next class up and even doing some good ole play by play during the races.
Sometimes I just can not figure out this darn sport. Honestly, I figured the OMA thing would pull more people in. Guess I was wr....ong.... I almost said it.
