It's been a disappointing year ,maybe it's time to realize the area can no longer support the sport!

i have to say it's been a disappointing year for 2016. I really thought that it would be worth trying to give it a shot in the arm this year with a big investment in infrastructure changes and promotion but I have to say it was a very disappointing year . I'm having a hard time deciding weather or not it's just time to throw in the towel and go a different direction or was there something I just missed , most all of the people I talk to that I've been fortunate enough to have met and respect in this business all tell me that you can't make money in the motorcross business anymore . I thought I could prove them wrong , but I'm ready to admit they just might be right !
 
Pity party; your table is ready. If you're not not making money or at least breaking even, then hang it up. I don't think any reasonable person would fault a business owner for closing it's doors if they're taking a loss year after year.

The cost of the sport isn't going to decrease any time soon. Figure out your yearly operating costs, account for inflation over the next 5 years, compare to your past 5 years of income, if it dosen't make dollars, it don't make sense. Move onto something else.

But, if you think it's possible. Here's a great opportunity:

Art chilitown is basically doing today what you did in the late 90s earlys 00s. But there location supports it better in today's market.

We attended Pymatuning events in the late 90's and early 2000's - it was far from being anything close to Chillitown.

My personal opinion is that the attendance at Pymatuning has to do with a lot more than location.
 
Have you considered a link with others from the area who might be able/willing to help? Or run the show and reward you with a percentage? I know this has always been and will always been you baby but if you could see it back at all its glory, it maybe worth it. Personally and Financially!
 
In the past I've been very critical on Pyma. This fall I've been to a few Wednesday practices.
Is Art trying? Yes, I believe so. Is he taking things in the right direction? Not sure. In another post Michael Fisher said Pyma is laid out to much like an AX track or Fair Cross. He want MX. I agree. When I ride there it's, turn, jump,jump,jump, turn. No where to rip through the gears. Some people might like this lay out, but looking at the numbers I don't think so. Im sure it's tough to work with flat ground, but I want a MX feel when I ride out doors.
I'm also not a big fan of the dirt. Disc do not get deep enough. It blows off then slicks off. A rut needs to be deeper than 12". Try to add sand and nutrients back into the dirt.
I'm not trying to bash Art. I'll continue to hit a few Wednesday's. But it's just not my type race layout in its current state.
Give Pyma a shot it might be your thing.
 
ive heard from some friends that do like the jumpy stuff, and they have said its been pretty good for the wed practices. so yes its all about what the rider likes and youll never please them all! turn outs suck everywhere, thats why i dont bother to race, no fun racing 4 guys especially when you pretty much know where you're going to finsh before the gate even drops.
