2018 OMA Class Changes

Lol.....cant argue with that one, you just ignore it and hope it goes away!!

The point being that a true beginner is no longer safe in C class races. Those top kids care about nothing more than a plastic first place trophy to impress their hoochie of the week. They will run over anything in the way to get it too. Its no fun feeling scared on the track in a group of fast riders, it scares riders off. At a Malvern race a couple years back a friend ( and prospective C class rider ) watched the C class kids jump the table to table ( about 7 of them ) and said right then he would never race.

i can see JO's answer now for this post. "then they dont belong on the track anyways" or "Thats ok we dont need him to race anyways"

Because he cant simply give a explanation for things he just has to try and make you look like a idiot. Its been said before, if it wasnt for his track being so nice, he would be nothing. (now here comes the "well then dont come to my track post")

Yea I don’t know what the answer is. But I Don’t mind dropping 25 and expanding schoolboy.

I’ve showed up to a few local Oma races and didn’t race 25+ because it had 3 people in it. Couldn’t race collegeboy (had 12-15ish) because I was too old....it’s terrible I go to sign up late and look at how many riders are in classes and I try to sign up for the classes with the most riders. So I’m sure I’m part of the Problem.

Those big vet events are awesome though and the gates are big. They’ll still be available there but locally 25+ isn’t well supported.

I agree there probably should be a d class for brand new people. But the problem is nobody showed up to race the class. Still agree 25 + is a totally unneeded class. And no way in hell is a new Rider do they belong in 25 plus.

Motocross is an extremely dangerous racing sport. Honestly there are some recreational Riders out there that do not belong racing.

We had a D class, it was poorly attended. Guess how many I had in D class at my last race??? Goose egg, that’s right a big fat zero. We gave it two years. Here’s the thing, maybe you guys need to accept it isn’t the classes, it isn’t the machines, maybe people don’t want to race. Maybe they have other things in their lives going on, maybe you all got lucky and lived the golden era. Just happy you can ride, it all will end eventually.

Just so I'm on the same page here, collegeboy is 16+, not 16-29 correct?

If there's an age cap then dropping 25+ is a huge bummer, if not then I'm so looking forward to the change.

I wouldnt say this is a big fat zero or a goose egg.

ill let this die because its not gonna change.

but what about making collegeboy 17+..... that would kinda make it so school boy and college boy can be dropped on a staggered start if need be.

a rider who is 16 has so many classes to choose from as it is. (i think 12?)

ok it didn't show in the results because of no points, but the point is that we have given new riders an avenue. Even 30+C, still not a bustling class.

What I don't understand, and I say this a lot, is why don't motocross guys want to ride with anyone else? Look at GNCC......it looks like hundreds on the course, which does include some moto. Everyone is so worried about who is in their class.....to the point where I know now why we need more portajohns.

Sounds like little Johnny wants his participation award and wants his own class cuz he doesn't like it when they run everybody together and the + 40 guys beat his + 25 class

I believe Vet +30 C had the largest total entires in 2017 GNCC AM Bike. One of the largest classes each round.

I raced three motocross races and one GNCC in 2017 after a six year hiatus from having a bike. The real world came and a job, a house, a thousand other things became priority. Doing those things allowed me, a 40-60 hour work week employee, to rejoin the sport as a rider. Speed and endurance aren't in my arsenal, but pure enjoyment and love for the sport and its community fuel me. However, a long day at the track on Sunday's for a motocross race leads to a rough work week when I am doing everything to and for the bike myself. Add in the travel, it's taxing and exhausting.
I suppose it was the third motocross race I attending this season. My Vet class was late in the running order and the program ran extremely long. I didn't complete my first moto until well after 2pm. I had a three hour drive to follow and had I stayed for my second moto, I would've been home and in bed nearly 2am, needing to wake 3 hours later to begin another long work week. Yet having to unload and wash.
I greatly enjoyed the the GNCC program as I knew that by 1pm I could be on my way home. Coming from even 7 hours away, I could've made it home at a decent time to prepare for the week ahead.
Ok, I complete my rambling.
Anyhow, that's something to consider when thinking of why Vet turnouts may be lower than anticipated.
