Grear's AHRMA this weekend

Absolute blasphemy! Who would ride a factory CZ without the proper jersey?
Joel Robert is rolling over in his grave...

It's taken me a few years to fully appreciate the CZ's, They just never wrote about them in Dirt Bike back in the late 70's early 80's. The Japanese had taken over by then.

Jeff Vlk (VLK943) displayed their dominance to me at Vintage Days a few years back in one of our races. My Yammy MX250 was no match for his CZ.

Nabbed from facebook.

Henry is from Czechoslovakia - right?
Maico's for the big bikes
CZ- for the 250's
Check out the DKW' small bikes from that era. They didn't bring them into the States much.
They rocked.

Danny showed up in my backyard with my across the road neighbor, guess it was almost a couple of years ago now. He had a story about chasing down and working on his departed dad's CZ. It has been a pleasure getting know Danny and his bike. He and my neighbor now regularly ride my little backyard track. Danny has many talents and has helped me with projects along along the way. He has also spent day with Henry, going through Danny's own 1974 400 engine and transmission.

My YZ 125 that Danny was grinding and welding on made it to Grear's Saturday but didn't want to play in the mud.

Being nitpicky here, but seeing those old CZs, the first thing my eyes are drawn to is the crossbar pad! Can't have an old 70's bike and put a ProTaper or Renthal bar pad on it!

Works Bike, ?
You are right, how far do you stray.

Funny. When Danny first brought his CZ over it was pretty much stock with the chrome welded on levers, wide, swept back bars, bare crossbar, no grip footpegs and sit in it soft seat. With the modern touches these bikes really become fun to ride. In their stock form, not so much...
