Grates ruined racing. I'm cool with everything else but gate picks and gate prep are so much a part of racing. Starting on grates is like cheating. Too easy and everyone gets the same opportunity off the start. Sure position and the ruts after make a difference but to me it's like socialism, let's make it fair for everyone. Who ever came up with the grate idea definitely voted for Obama, Biden and will vote for Harris. Leave politics out of MX !
 
I think the grates are fine, I’m not a concrete fan though. I personally would like to see grates on the pad and about 4’ past the gate. Make it all uniform. It would be cool if all hinged up on the actual gate for maintenance too. Hydraulically that is.
