Winter Projects Re-re-re-re-visited

I've been getting a rag about those the last few months.
Love lookin through and reading the tech articles.
Even went so far as to start talking about them... HUMMM....????
 
Scott-I rode Friday and Saturday, then took yesterday off and will ride again
today and tomorrow. Looks like we have a couple days of crap weather
then I'll ride again for 2 or 3 days and take another break. When everyone was
riding down south, I went west and rode out there. I'm close to 700 miles
already. Thank you San Diego!

Sharc - This may sound silly but If you decide to go for one be sure you get the right fit.
The common measurement is crotch to floor and that is still important but
the more important measurement is waist to neck. Seat posts offer more
adjustment than the top tube does. The trend is to ride as small of a frame
as possible to increase stiffness.
www.wrenchscience.com has a fit calculator which is a good place to start.

From a technical side bicycles are like works bikes. There is another site
called www.weightweenies.starbike.com that has all the component weights measured in grams.
How light you want your bike to be is all a factor of how thick your wallet is.
Bearing surfaces, wheel weights and tires play a big part in reducing rolling resistance.
 
There is progress on the HL500 also...
Drive chain tensioner relocated and beefed up.
Both wheels were sent to Woody Graves and had the hubs relined and brake shoes matched to them.
Engine has been apart for a while...had a slight problem with the intake valve hitting the piston...
New valves, head redone, piston modified so it should be running again soon.
Still on my to-do list; rear suspension to Coppersmith and jetting.

So maybe by July???
 
I saw a "spark" in Sharc's eyes on Saturday talking about how cool the carbon road bikes are. I have yet to be out on mine (knee surgery a week ago), but plan on doing a ton of miles when rehab is done. Maybe there will be a Sharc on my tail?
 
Man you know you guys are getting old when you turn a motocross project bike thread into a road bicycle hijack. At least talk about mountain bikes so it's on dirt!

I've been in a GYM three times in the last two weeks........This off season ANYTHING can happen..

Oh....and I jumped on the scale too. I'm pushing a portly 152 Lb. I don't think the pig even knows I'm back there...

For sale! Maybe you roadies should buy this so you can talk about dirt bikes.

Looks great, what class would you ride that in?
I tried to find my 1982 rm 125. It still may show up.
 
For 2014 the AMA Vintage Series (Mid Ohio, Action Sports, Lincoln Trail, Log Road, etc) has two classes for that bike:
-Non Current 125cc
-Non Current +30

AHRMA has nothing for that new of a bike.
 
Thanks. This one was pretty nice to begin with, this is a really tight bike. Even more so now that I've gone through it all. I just was never a fan of this body style so I'm not attached to it.
 
Text me a price and the life-time maintenance agreement.

I see the "2" is missing so it is available.

I think the last time I weighed 152, I was in 8th grade. :/

Early in the winter I bought a 2003 Rm 125 blown up. The plan was to do a 144 but the tranny ended up being shot on it so that took my 144 money so it is just a 125 but this is my winter project.
 
Always had a soft spot for RM 125's
Should be a fun bike.
The few that I've ridden turn and flick like nothing else.
