Buckeye series race this Sunday 10-9-11

Both of those have been discussed and the tabletop has already been corrected. Thoughts on the second jump of the six pack is to widen it about 6-8 ft to the outside for riders that can't get slowed up early enough but still leave the inside line for those that can. Outside line would set you up nice for the last one.

Whoa vetrider. Didn't mean to take you over the edge I was just throwing my opinion of your opinion back at you. Kinda sucks when someone goes online and bashes you or your hard work. Doesn't it. You say I do what ever I want with the track. I am trying to bring business to our club and promote it. I have been there for the last five weekends working to turn our club around. I have seen you mowing and I appreciate the help. I never said you were slow. Never said anything about you other than posting an opinion based on only four laps is rediculus. I did come over during practice and ask your opinion. Figured I would give you a personal outlet to complain thinking maybe you wouldn't have to go online and do it. See how mad you got over a little joke. Imagine if you had countless hours of work, relentless a$$ chewings from members that don't or never have ridden MX and the ever lovin wife who is extremely happy that I spend every weekend trying to build a business that I will never profit from. Then listen to someone go on line and bash what you've done. Like they are doing something other than keeping the couch firmly planted in the living room. Imagine being the only indian in a tribe of chiefs. I read your post and threw a little joke at you because it torked me up a little. I end this with. If you can't even take a little joke maybe you shouldn't be throwing opinions around. Anyone else who is reading this please don't hold my sense of humor against my club. I just thought viagra and depends was pretty funny.

The more I looked at the six pack, it would have been better to arch the curve out, So its not as much as turn into the second set.

I say I alot. Theres no I in team. Several other members are involved in the track. I would like to thank Bill Barnes. Bill has been a big part of our current track layout. There are other club members that were a big help with the track prep this weekend. Bill Barnes, Rex Pierce, Tracy Moore, Dave Rowland, John Romanyack and myself. we hope you had fun and keep coming back. Thank you for your support.

look man you made it personal with me with your joke I have been waiting for a layout down there to ride on that was a good layout which you have finally I was so excited to ride it and I thought it was too wet and still do. I was crushed when I left and pointed the finger at the rider as much or more than the track. I may have ran more than 4 laps but I got cross rutted of that long table and about wiped out a kid so I took my arse back to the truck and called it a day. If you would have said dont post anything when you talked to me I wouldnt have all I was doing was trying to see if anyone thought the way I did period

I never minded helping you guys, when I have it has taken my mind off of other things that I cant make a difference on. My personal preference is a fast track that you can run on without having to follow thats all. As for your joke I raced for years with bad knees several concussions and my little brother smashed his femer at cocr, so I know what can happen when things go wrong. if I was scared I wouldnt ride. Matter of fact I called Gary and offered to help get ready for the next event then I read your pot-shot on me since now I see you we poking fun at me then I will forget it if you want me to mow, pm me I will be glad to help regardless

I have to applaud the effort and changes so far. I agree, the six pack is a good practice tool but it doesn't race well. It reminded me of highpoint but it's too tight.

Hey, we just did eleven hours of Michigan sand track riding …Wow!
….Ohio’s tracks are typically baby-butt smooth…….just sayin`.
Good-on-COCR for making it rough….

COCR is a great track. I have always loved coming there. But vetrider is right, the one line rut stuff is kind of tuff. We need to be able to use the whole track for great racing. I remember when Killbarger came down and used a pulverizer on the track, that was great. The track was loamy and damp but it was fast everywhere. Just a thought. Thanks for all your hard work COCR!!

We put on a good race, personally i have never seen COCR so nice, the track got rough in some places and personally i loved the ruts in the straights and on the faces of the jumps, thats where skill is really tested. I agree with a few people on here when they say that the second jump in the six pack section was a little narrow, if it was just a little bit wider it would be really nice. We finally have a track to be proud of, Great job guys! Can't wait till this weekend.

By the way was anyone down taking pictures? if anyone knows could you please send me the link to their website. Thanks

On that second jump, yea definitely too narrow, but I did love how it swept around a curve.
Seen a lot of jumpers missing the following jumps, going off the track trying to learn how to jump that set. Pretty neat once you got it.

I also thought that it could use a touch more launch face run-up and take some of the peak off of it. Seen a lot of short jumpers slamming pretty good and getting all sideways coming out, causing issues for jumpers following them.

In my 2nd 40+ moto, I almost got into rear wheel of another rider as we landed, (he let up a bit too much going over, and didn't pitch into curve enough, and curving I pitched it over too much to set up for the last jump), I had to plant my left foot to keep from going over and reinjured my nicely healing left knee. Hurt like hell. The jump just wasn't wide enough for multiple bikes. Thank goodness we were one turn from the checkered flag, I couldn't put any weight on my left leg.

Very few clearing the first long double, and was a bit of a momentum killer if you didn't.

Overall, my son and I enjoyed the track a lot. But we were definitely not prepared for how fast everybody was. 30+ & 40+ had some really good racers!

I agree the face was a little steep but i liked the way it through me. About the first double going into the 6 pack section i had an idea to make the landing about ten feet shorter so the riders who can't clear it will not lose momentum, but the riders who like the far jump can still jump as far as they want, kind of like a safety landing. i don't know what other people think but it works in my mind

Does anyone know of anyone that was taking pictures? i seen a guy out taking some and im pretty sure has a few really good ones of me but i am not sure who it was or what the website for them is if you happen to know please let me know

My plan is to shorten the first double, but put a roller or drop off before it to soak up some speed, then the second double can be moved back slightly, and be angled more up the hill. That will flow better for everyone. Also, moving the table that people were cutting so it fits better, and lastly the landing of the camel hump by the fence shall receive a taller landing. More of a table top landing where you can step up on top or clear the whole thing. I think all of the other issues I heard about are just from the jumps being fresh. Once they frim up in the next weeks, they will feel more consistent. I might actually get to ride this so called new track on the 22nd, hoping for good weather.

What did everyone think of the "big table" by the woods?

The first set of the sweeping six just needs a taller lip on the take off. The reason people were missing the second set is because you had too much momentum landing the first set. Making the second set wider would obviously help too, but i think the distance on the first set is perfect, just more of a lip for a little more air would slow the momentum a little and allow us too set up for the second set a little easier.

Yeh, the faces got a little sketchy on saturday but as JO said, it takes time for fresh faces to firm up. I give the guys credit for re-shaping all the faces for sundays race.

The back table is awesome! I think it's always been my favorite jump there. Although, i do think that with the face being taller that it needs to be extended a little bit. It was REALLY easy to over jump. Maybe another 5-10 feet. The face did throw you perfect though.

The start still needs some tweaking though. You come around that 1st corner sweeper so fast that its sketchy making that off camber right back in to the track. I think they should use the old straight to straight, just for the start though. Then still use the sudden right hander after the tunnel jump during the races. Also, the step us is cool and fun, but maybe a little too soon for the start of a race. Im sure our buddy #145 could attest to that (anyone know how he's doing?). I think that straight to straight could help with that by giving more time to seperate riders.

Other than that the layout flows way better! I was very pleased with COCR this weekend! But at intermission don't disc over the corners that already have 5 good lines. Discing over them when the dirt has been dried out just makes the corners 1-lined berms for the second set of motos.

I would add a few more rollers after the step-up too. 1 or 2 more would be sweet!

Ok, im out of breath. Kudos to everyone at COCR and around the District trying to make us, the racers, happy! Keep it up!

I was stuck flagging during the race and didn't get around to check everything out before intermission. My partner in crime, Bill Barnes did notice that we killed the five lines that were in the sweepers in the middle. We will pay closer attention to that this weekend. How did everyone like the straights before and after the big table back by the woods. It gets soo wet back there to disc it gets crazy. We used the dozer to track those areas in and let the bikes sink in to make ruts. After the race we did walk around checking stuff out. We noticed how rough it was down the straight with the rollers. What do you guys think about tracking that in with the dozer as well. If its wet enough and tracked in the ruts will form everywhere instead of just the main line. I can get that wet enough to not have to disc during intermission and it should hold up. But if we don't touch it all day its gonna rut up all the way across. We will try it out Saturday for practice and go from there.

Tracking in the straights in the back was nice. That table is awesome and throws you perfect, except after the straight was tracked in I way over-jumped it, neck is a little sore today haha,

now the input the track was ok for the practice and 1st motos were ok. I liked the changes. now the critcism. Discing a dry track is not good. adding no water to a already dry track that was disced, is even worse. I feel that you should not have practice the day before a race to preserve the water in the track. just my 2 cents. good luck next week.

GMans post makes sense to me. The majority of riders do not have an opportunity to ride on tracks purposley rutted up. I have a job and other responsibilities. most of the time weekends is all I can go ride and most of them are unprepped weekends unless someone is holding an open pratice. If I was like a pro had 4 or 5 days of practice per week and unlimited funds then I am sure that I could learn to rut-race. If you want to try to grow the sport, then catering to a handful of higher skilled riders to me is not the answer. I agree with G-Man when the pulverizer was used by Mr Killbarger at COCR that was the best kick-but prep job that track has ever had and that is me counting from 1984 to 1992 and from 2006 to present there. Remember the chreme always rises to the top talent wise with the riders, however that being said if you want to try to grow a struggling sport or track dont make it where its a job just to ride a lap for the slower riders and make it generally fustrating, they will get disgusted and not give the sport a chance. I know I am older but Honda Hills back in the day was never ever hurting for race participants. Why because the track was tame enough for everybody. Dick saw to that and he wouldnt even put doubles in the track 400 plus riders every weekend including the 40 or more riders I raced with in 125c weekely the most fun I ever had in racing in my life was that place you could use the entire track. The same could be said for Muskingham Valley back then as well. Alot of todays riders would be in for an eye opening expierance racing that kind of track skill alone or jumping talent didnt dictate who won you raced for it every corner every lap its a shame that this has been lost by this sport apparently.
