indoor MX in ytown?

I know there are many factors that play into low turnouts some out of your control but some you can control. I will use n.e.m.x for an example which i think is a great track and facility. That being said i have about 5 buddies that i ride with however they will not go to n.e.m.x for 1 reason and its that double. People do not want to go to a track that they can not do all the jumps and are worried that when they don't someone behind them will. I geuss i dont understand why track owners would not build a track that is forgiving because it benefits everybody. Now if your turnouts our low now and this track in ytown builds a track to suit everyone and if the big jumps are forgiving i can almost guarantee your numbers will drop even more.

can never please everyone. too forgiving and its boring and not challenging enough, too challenging and people are scared. nothing new there..

I have been around a long time and the tracks that do the best are the tracks that are forgiving like malvern. It doesnt have to be easy but it needs to be forgiving there is a diference. A good example is n.e.m.x that rythem section before the rythem that is beside the wall.

shoot i just want to get some big air in the ghetto, i might even listen 2 jigaboo music all the way there, count me in, the other track owners shouldnt be mad since they have family members that ride, a new track is always sweet to go 2, tell me ramjams son isnt bored of ridin there day n and day out.bunch a god damn bickering old ladies.

John that's fine. I mean we do a total track redo every start of a new season and make changes here and there. Yes, it would be nice to do other things, but when the riders are not there...your not making money. When people see on some days wow we have 100 people it's a hit and miss here and there. Let me tell you no one is getting 100+ right now. Funny thing is people think when there is 30-50 riders that's a lot...believe me to pay your bills it's not a lot to us. There just are not that many riders like our 1st 5 years. If it was like it use to be then we would have added a whole another building going out those big back gargage doors. That's why the bathrooms are waaay in the back corner right now because then that way when we were going to add on they would have been in the middle. Also, A lot of people quit and there are not that many little bikes like there use to be. Remember when they stopped selling the little bikes because of the lead reason. That actually is when we saw the little riders decrease because they then got into playing school sports, snow boarding, and ect. Yes, it would be nice to go to a new place...now I'm not trying to start anything because I like switchback and the people, but honestly they are new and don't get the riders like we did our first 5 years being open. Motocross has died...yes it will always be there, but it has died. Hopefully in the future things will look bright for the motocross industry again, but now it's not good. Just take a look at all the indoors that have closed and even outdoor tracks. I'm just making the point it's not like it use to be. And yes it will be nice to have a new indoor...I will be there...but it's just sad the industry wasn't better.
I have not missed a race yet this year at Earlwine. This past weekend has been the less riders. About 75 riders and about 123 sign ups. All outher were over 100 riders.

I tend to look at numbers when i make a decision on things. Ive been designing and maintaining the track for the past three season and this is what i have come up with, its more of a SWAG than anything (scientific wild a** guess). In the first season i more or less redesigned a bit of what my dad had made from the previous season. Nothing too hard but lots of injuries. Second season, last season, i came out with a totally new more aggressive track design. It was loved and hated all the same, cant make everyone one happy, haha. One thing did come to my attention though, there were much less injuries. I didn't really think much of it that season, more on that later. Now this season i again have redesigned most of the track keeping what worked well from the previous season. This year i went for for smaller jumps with big rounded landings (for the little riders and novice riders) and rhythm sections with easy, medium, and hard lines. This year we are having a lot of major injuries. You might think its the big jumps, its quite the opposite. Almost all of these injuries happened on small basic jumps even the small 30ft table top out here. The only thing that myself and others can figure out is that when a track is easy and everyone does every jump is that people become overconfident and are not totally committed to the track. The finish line double at our track has, to my knowledge, the lowest amount of crashes on it. The few that i can think of resulted a concussion, a few into the fence. Mostly bumps and bruises. This is from when i built it last season to now. Another thing that i have talked with others too is that most tracks have their signature jumps. Holeshot used used to have the big step up, scenic highlands had the finish line up hill triple (loved that jump), red bud has laroccos leap, and NEMX has the double which is actually pretty small in comparison at 60ft. The list goes on. Not everyone does these jumps, but what it does it gives someone something to brag to their friends about doing. Well thats all i have on the subject, some tid bits of info to think about.

Haha you speak the truth, i rode our track once at the start of the season to test it then one other time trying a buddies bike out. I have more time on that track on the dozer than anyone has there on a bike, lol.

Trust me i understand that lol.. That uphill trpl was my fave jump when they first put it in before they cut it down. And if he would have got rid of it i would have still went there. The only reason i posted was all this talk about low numbers and the problems i have been hearing. So i was just giving my take on how to maybe bring more riders in. As for the injuries you have benn having this season i can see how. When i have been there that tabletop has a funny spot at the top of the lip out of the main line and that section where you can jump from table to single is decieving, a lot has to do with how your bike is geared for that jump and the wall section there needs to be more disparity in height or spread out a little more. since those are small jumps i completly see how ppl are getting hurt on those cause they are tempting. As for that dbl i am not saying cut it down or cut anything down cause ppl and myself like to jump some bigger stuf but that landing is not for most vet or c riders. maybe its a good thing you either do it or dont plus it is not as tempting for some ppl. but remember i am talking about turnouts and that jump has turned my buddies away from there and when i was at tv land i heard ppl saying the same thing. I am sure its hard to figure it all out and all i am doing is giving you a riders perspective maybe it will help maybe it wont but i know you guys have a good facility and would like to see you guys do good so you can stay around.

dear ramjam, nemx, early wine, and all the rest:

please make an oval track. Every other day run it forwards and backwards. No jumps please. That way I can race all my friends and please give me a trophy for practice so I can show all the local ladies in the area of the tracks.
Thank you.

seriously: I test nemx out every year. We can do every jump on the 2nd lap. Karnow proved this year it's the best yet with all the option lines.

Not to offend you, but in comparison to the other two existing indoor tracks your landings are peaky! The rythem section landings are as peaky as the take offs and the one time you do clip them your going over the bars. Cameron would just say Im a big sissy though, maybe Im just getting too old.

But that being said, the faster more indoor geared riders are going to prefer your style to Switchback that is geared much more to the outdoor/ less confident jumper type rider and Ram Jam is a good mix of both. The good thing is they are all in driving distance and offer a place for all levels of rider to have a chance to stay on their game all winter long. Honestly I get tired of indoors quickly and having choice wont take my business away from any I would go to. I just rotate when bored or stay home.

The four of you really should think about getting together next winter and each hold one race for a series as a test. Just an idea

Just make the oval banked lol.. I agree geogrgie the track is good and has multiple lines that are nice. My opinion is only based on what i have heard about the track by riders that dislike that dbl to the point they wont go thats all.

Ramjam I drove over the speed limit on my way to work today should I turn myself in or wait for you to do it........anyways good luck guys don't be discouraged by haters they were born that way.....

just watched the vid, boy if earlywine isnt a pitbike track i dont no what is, except 1 jump, glad i aint drove all the way there from akron.

When Crute wines about the track Hershey, Cameron and myself....and others take it upon ourselves to makes fun of his girly name. Start making fun of your sissy friends sir! Then the male testosterone fever of being called out sets in. And they will ride with you at places where there are big skkkeeaaaaawwwweeeeeee jumps. :)
