I tend to look at numbers when i make a decision on things. Ive been designing and maintaining the track for the past three season and this is what i have come up with, its more of a SWAG than anything (scientific wild a** guess). In the first season i more or less redesigned a bit of what my dad had made from the previous season. Nothing too hard but lots of injuries. Second season, last season, i came out with a totally new more aggressive track design. It was loved and hated all the same, cant make everyone one happy, haha. One thing did come to my attention though, there were much less injuries. I didn't really think much of it that season, more on that later. Now this season i again have redesigned most of the track keeping what worked well from the previous season. This year i went for for smaller jumps with big rounded landings (for the little riders and novice riders) and rhythm sections with easy, medium, and hard lines. This year we are having a lot of major injuries. You might think its the big jumps, its quite the opposite. Almost all of these injuries happened on small basic jumps even the small 30ft table top out here. The only thing that myself and others can figure out is that when a track is easy and everyone does every jump is that people become overconfident and are not totally committed to the track. The finish line double at our track has, to my knowledge, the lowest amount of crashes on it. The few that i can think of resulted a concussion, a few into the fence. Mostly bumps and bruises. This is from when i built it last season to now. Another thing that i have talked with others too is that most tracks have their signature jumps. Holeshot used used to have the big step up, scenic highlands had the finish line up hill triple (loved that jump), red bud has laroccos leap, and NEMX has the double which is actually pretty small in comparison at 60ft. The list goes on. Not everyone does these jumps, but what it does it gives someone something to brag to their friends about doing. Well thats all i have on the subject, some tid bits of info to think about.
