Somehow someone got a picture of me on that IT175 that I owned for about 2 weeks. Just long enough to ride it at AMA Vintage day's in a rainy muddy mess in the harescramble!!!!! I don't even have a pic of this bike!!!!!!

Zman, his buddy Eddie Kinney, and I had a blast riding the vintage trials event the one year at Vintage days because we borrowed trials bikes, had no practice, and figured it out as we went along, laughing all the way through the competition. We were terrible at it, but we had the best time ever, doing it!

Man, am I glad you pointed this out!
I've been racking my brain trying to remember who this #163 was, and I was sure it was somebody we knew.
That particular pic is from the AMA gallery.

#6 is Californian Bob Grossi. Pretty sure he was the 250cc National champ.

#79 is Mike Hartwig out of Michigan, he was bad azz on his factory Husky then later factory Yamaha.

The guy on the CZ wearing the Kawasaki jersey is future World Champ Brad Lackey. The reason Brad has a Kawasaki jersey on is that Kawasaki was just entering the pro mx wars in the USA and Brad was signed to ride their prototype 450 but still used his CZ in 250 wars.

Looks like you guys missed the guy on the Husky wearing the coveralls. I'll give you a hint about him.... he's from Lisbon Ohio.

From an earlier mention: Rik Smitz (the Racing Dutchman)
Also holds an AHRMA championship.

(that poor soul eating dust behind him is George Singler) :)

Old school vs New school :

Does anybody remember good ole fashion whoop sections that wouldn't swallow a bus?
I snapped these shots at a track in Great Falls Montana at their local track. Sweeeet! Perfect for poor riding old grumps like me.

Some of you will undoubtedly remember these: Jeremy's infamous Ten-Pack

I recall that after you exited the Ten Pack, made it through the right hand 90degree corner you went a ways and then entered into a real nice and manageable Whoop-de-doo section Jeremy had built in. The next time I returned to the track the whoop section was gone and I believe replaced with a single jump or something.

And then he later added these heading into the north-east bowl turn I believe.

Wow Mike! That's some trip down memory lane. "Freas Photography" has been at so many races. The first one is from when you were scouting out AHRMA before taking the plunge and the second was just last year. Great times with you and your family over the years!

Great seeing those pictures of George Singler, he is one of the greatest ambassadors and all around nice guys that motorcycle racing has ever and will ever have. I considered Smith Rd. my home track and one thing I always remembered is that George always met you with a smile.

Doubt many of you will remember that Smith Rd. started out as a TT Scramble track. The track was down in front where the pits are now. I remember George pulling a barrel of used motor oil dumping it on the track to keep the dust down.

Jeff Vlk….always smooth and fast.

I know I haven't been around in a while! We moved to Cincinnati, I got a new job, bought a new house, etc. Crazy last 10 months. All is great except for the issue we are all facing. I am taking advantage of the down time for getting ready to ride for sure.

I had never seen the picture of the young Babbet on the Yamaha and what really has me scratching my head is that the guy on #88 KDX next to him is ME! That was 2011 for sure because that was my first ever vintage race period. Spent all winter slaving on that bike. Second lap of the HS the stator kept cutting out and I had to push it up hills so I could bump it going down a hill. It was like 105 degrees and although I didn't have a doctor diagnose me or anything I was at least close to heat stroke.

Back then they had the HS do a lap on the MX track to start and I enjoyed that so much I sold the KDX and built my CR but it wasn't until 13 I that I started that. I actually always thought I met the Babbets for the first time at Action Sports in 13. I think I have all of the years right....

Good times - thanks for posting.

Every time I see a Carabela it makes me think of another lesser known bike brand that a buddy of mine had when we were teenagers. I was digesting a steady diet of "Dirt Bike" and "Motocross Action" magazine articles and photos on all of the mainstream bikes being ridden, and then my buddy Pat shows up on one of these. His dad picked it up for him.
